Eligibility Criteria PPMET :

A For PPMET (Common Criteria for all courses)

 

1. He/She has passed qualifying examinations as under:-

 

a.

The higher secondary examination or the Indian Schools Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination after period of 12 year study, the last two years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Biology after the introduction of the 10+2+3+ years education structure as recommended by the National Committee on education;

 

OR

 

b. The intermediate examination in Science of an Indian University/ Board or other recognized examination body with Physics, Chemistry and Biology which shall include a practical test in these subjects and also English as a Compulsory subject;

 

OR

 

c. The Pre-professional/pre-medical examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, after passing either the higher secondary school examination or the pre-university or an equivalent examination. The pre-professional/pre-medical examination shall include a practical test in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and English as compulsory subject;

 

OR

 

d. The first year of the three year degree course recognized university with Physics, Chemistry and Biology including a practical test in these subjects provided the examination is a "University Examination" and candidate has passed 10+2 with the English at a level not less than a core course;

 

OR

 

e. B.Sc. examination of an Indian University, provided the he/she passed the B.Sc. examination with not less than two of the following subject-Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany, Zoology) and further that he/she has passed the earlier qualifying examination with the following subject- Physics, Chemistry and Biology and English;

 

OR

 

f. Any other examination which, in scope and standard is found to be equivalent to the intermediate Science examination of an Indian University/Board, taking Physics, Chemistry and Biology including a practical test in each of these subjects and English.

 

OR

 

2. The candidate should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination as listed under 4(A) (i) to (f) before counseling.

 

3. Result not declared - A candidate who has appeared for qualifying examination in the annual batch, but whose result has not been declared may be provisionally permitted to appear in PPMET . The candidate will be required to produce the evidence of the result having been declared and he/she having passed the examination fulfilling the eligibility conditions by the time of first counseling.

 

4. Age:- Candidate must have completed the age of 17 years.

 

5. Should have studied during his/her 10+1 and 10+2 examination or other qualifying examination in place of 10+2, as listed in 4(A) (i) (a) to (f) above, as regular candidate from a recognized institution situated in the State of Punjab only except for the exemptions wherever applicable. The candidate would be required to submit a certificate to this effect fro, the Principal/Head of the Institute last attended in the Prescribed Performa.

 

6. In case candidate has also taken up Mathematics along with Physics, Chemistry and Biology and English then the marks obtained in Mathematics shall not be considered for admission to Para Medical Courses.

 

7. The candidate should be bonafide resident of Punjab. The Resident status of the Punjab State, will be taken in terms of Punjab Government, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (PP II Branch) letter No. 1/3/95-3 PP II/96 19, dated 6th June, 1996, ID No. 1/3/95-3PP II/81, dated 1st January 1999 and further instructions issued by the Department, if any, from time to time and the same, shall be adhered to in letter and spirits in PPMET.

 

8. Candidate must have passed in the subject of Physics, Chemistry and Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 35% marks (Pass marks in case of SC/BC) taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in 10+2 examination.

 

9. 50% of the total seats in private institutions shall constitute the Management Quota including 15% of the total seats for Foriegn Indian Students (NRI candidates)

 

B. Exemptions [under para 4A (i) (a) to (f) ]

 

1. Children/wards/dependents (whose parents are nor alive) of all those regular Punjab Government employees, members of All Indian Services born on Punjab cadre, Serving Judges and the employees of the Punjab and Hariyana High court, employees Boards/ Corporations/Statutory Bodies established by an act of the State of Punjab who have been holding post outside Punjab on or before 1st January of the year of entrance test that is on or before 1st January 2006 and their children/wards/ dependents were compelled to do 10+1 and/or 10+2 outside Punjab.

 

2. Children/wards/dependents (whose parents are nor alive) of all those regular Central Government employees, employees of Boards/ Corporations/Statutory Bodies of Central Government who have remained posted inside Punjab for at least two tears out of the three years (2003, 2004 and 2005) preceding the year of PPMET but were posted outside Punjab for some time during these three years due to which there children/wards/dependents were compelled to do 10+1 and/or 10+2 or equivalent qualifying examinations outside Punjab. However, those who remained posted in Punjab continuously for these three years shall not be entitled to be exempted as they are equally placed with other Punjab Government employees posted in Punjab.

 

3. Children/wards/dependents (whose parents are not alive) of all those Punjab Government pensioners who have retired on or before 1st January of the year of entrance test that is on or before 1st January 2006 and have settled outside Punjab on or before 1st January of the year of entrance test i.e. on or before 1st January 2006 and their children/wards/dependents wards compelled to do 10+1 and/ or 10+2 outside Punjab.

 

4. Children/wards/dependents (whose parents are not alive) of those military/para military forces personnel who were born in the territory of Punjab as per their service record at the time of entry into service.

 

5. Children/wards/dependents (whose parents are not alive) of those Es-employees of military/para military forces who were born in the territory of Punjab as per their service record at the time of entry into serviceand have retired on or after 1st January of the year preceding two years of the year of entrance test (i.e. on or after 1st January 2003) for the admission of 2006.

 

6. Candidates belonging to Sikh and Christian community who are competing for the minority quota in the minority institutions respectively.

 

7. Candidates seeking admission under Foreign Indian Student (NRI) category.

 

8. Candidates under J & K migrants category.

 

9. Candidates under Tsunami Victims category.

 

Note 1:- For those candidates who are repeaters in categories (i) to (v) the year of entrance for the purpose of all these clauses shall be taken as the year of passing 10+2 examinations by the candidates in place of current year.

 

Note2:- The dependency certificate in case of those parents are not alive shall have also to be taken from the Deputy Commissioner of the District where the candidates resides.
